WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4
Our
first speaker is missionary Tim Rose, who serves in France on behalf of the Common Global Ministries of the
United Church of Christ and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Tim Rose, who hails originally from Waterbury,
has served as a Global Ministries missionary with the Reformed Church of France
since 2002. He works with that church's
refugee program, which helps settle those fleeing from unendurable conditions
into a new life in France. Most of the refugees come from African
nations. In addition, Tim works on
projects related to the Middle East.
Tim is married to Sophie, and they have a three-year-old son Dorian. Tim is
currently a member of the United Church of Chapel Hill, UCC, in Chapel
Hill, North Carolina.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 11
Kelvin Pinckney from CTWorks, Your
Workforce Connection, will be speaking on coping with job loss as well as
employment changes and challenges. Discover your God-given talents in this
shifting, challenging economy. More
details to follow.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18
As parents and grandparents
raise and nurture children in these challenging times, Rev. Jane Hawken and C.E.
Coordinator Ann Labby will
talk about how the church can be supportive. Topics to be addressed will include:
- Being on the lookout for risky behavior and the
Internet;
- Encouraging parents to keep the line of
communication open with their children about sex;
- Providing the church as
a safe environment where “askable” and
trustworthy adults can be resources and mentors to children.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25
Obadiah
Ballinger works
as a Religious Organizer for Love Makes a
Family, a statewide organization advocating for lesbian, gay,
bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality. He works with congregations and people of
faith throughout Connecticut to support faithful discernment about LGBT issues
including same-gender marriage. Oby is a 2008 graduate of Yale Divinity School and is in-care of the UCC's
Minnesota Conference, preparing to be ordained a UCC pastor this fall.

Family Lenten Potluck
Dinner and Program
Sunday, March 15th
5:00 pm to
7:00 pm
All families are invited to a
potluck dinner on March 15th in Fellowship Hall. Doors will open at 4:45 p.m. with dinner starting at 5:00. Bring your
favorite supper item to share with others. The CE Board will provide drinks and dessert. Following dinner we will have
a Lenten program for ALL ages. We will
even provide childcare for the very young. Sign up sheet is on the CE Bulletin Board in
Fellowship Hall.
